The Bahamas Basketball Federation
The Bahamas Basketball Federation (BBF) is the governing body for basketball in The Bahamas as appointed by the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sport and Culture.
Based in Nassau, Bahamas, the Bahamas Basketball Federation is a nonprofit organization and national governing body for men’s and women’s basketball in The Bahamas and represents all basketball interests, provides leadership, coordination, and direction in all areas of the sport of basketball.
The BBF is recognized as the governing body of Basketball in the Bahamas by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the Bahamas Olympic Committee (BOC), in addition to Sanctioning all competitions in the Bahamas, we are responsible for the selection, training, and fielding of Bahamian teams that compete in FIBA sponsored international basketball competitions, as well as for some national competitions, and for the development of youth basketball initiatives that address player development, coach education and licensing.
The BBF serves to exercise a leadership role in the promotion and development of the sport of basketball in The Bahamas. It has been leading the basketball movement as delegated by FIBA Americas and CONCENCABA, through programs and services for all levels of athletes, participants, leaders and volunteers. The BBF is also responsible for The Bahamas National Team participation in the CBC Championships.
The BBF joined the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) in it’s founding year in 1981 and was formally recognized by The International Basketball Federation (Fédération Internationale de Basketball) (FIBA) in 1962.
The BBF recognizes the superior authority of CONCENCABA and FIBA Americas, and recognizes also the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) as the governing and sole authority for men’s and women’s basketball throughout the world.
